I've been to Hollywood, I've been to Redwood... [Sep. 5th, 2006|09:02 pm]

So Road Trip '06 was an unqualified success. Pictures to come. Was able to do a lot of things I missed last year, and the experience helped me make better use of my time. I didn't worry about reaching the destination, I just enjoyed getting there. It sucks that it's over, and I am less than 24 hours away from commencing my senior year, but I can look back on the last 4 weeks without any regrets, aside from not getting to see everyone I planned to (sorry!)

I love California; what an amazing state. I mean, once you get past the facade, the throngs of phonies everywhere you look, and the fact that there is soooooo much pollution (in SoCal, at least) that you can't see more than a mile in any direction, there is a very real, almost mythological underlying feel to the place. And the natural beauty they have left is awe-inspiring. It's also got a very laid back feel to it, plus I bought enough clothes to last me for years at a very reasonable price. Oh, and the thing about the phonies, that's a bit of a generalization. Some of the coolest people I"ve met are from California. Maybe it just depends on where you're from?

Oregon and Washington are breathtaking as well. I mean, the whole pacific northwest is. Having said that, Oregon law sucks. If you want to know, ask. I got to see a lot more of the Oregon coast this time around, and I don't know how I ever could've missed it last go around.

Having said that, of all the places I've been the last month, the coolest, most interesting, most beautiful city in the world is still my second home, Vancouver. If you've never been, visit it before you die. You'll never want to leave. Having everyone out there, getting to show them the house, and (not to sound too sappy) share with them the places and expriences that have always been so personally significant just made it that much better. So yeah, good times. Elaboration later (maybe). Time to prep for school.

Keep On Rocking in the Free World.
